Because people tend to get nasty and angry with things they do not them themselves understand or participate in. So they lash out to make themselves heard instead of just biting their tongue and not showing that they don't know. What was it grandma use to say, ohh yeah. People might think your a fool but open your mouth and then they will know for sure.

It depends how old you are. Some people are very protective and others are very liberal.
