Perhaps, an extensive study is done in that exact spot, as to how many deer do cross there. And after the study is done, they pick the spot the deer cross the most and put the sign there. You know tax dollars at work.

I agree. They will put signs up some distance part showing deer, but I also can't see how they can guarantee that is the area they are going to cross. Is there some sort of limited liability if the cross outside the area?

Same for the frogs, the tortoises, the sheep's and so on...
I guess the answer is with Mr or Mrs Barks at... but even if I had time, I have got NO patience, so I suppose I will have to wonder for ever...

first, stop watching the simpsons, futurama is far better.
second, they put them all over the place in woods, although most of the time deer stay away from roads, as they really hate cars
