I have listened to many supposed messages in reverse. I think you can hear anything you WANT to hear.

Not CDs, but it's definitely possible with records. I mean, haven't you heard about people back in the day accusing some record or other of promoting "satanic messages" if played backwards? It's such a classic urban legend.

Of course, the actual likelihood that the band or musician deliberately put some hidden message that you can only hear when you play the music backwards is pretty slim, though it doesn't make the scenario totally implausible.

That was a delibrate thing done by lots of late 70/early 80 rockers. It was just a message or a chant reversed and mixed into the music. When it was played back you could hear the message clearly. Coming from a musician I think they did it for fun or for publicity. Most of the music was rock heavy metal and it just became a fun fashionable think to put somthing creepy and gimmik like into their music. The religious christians of that time helped album sales I would of imagine

Lol. Years ago when the Beatles were still new, there was a big rumor like that. Play the record backwards and you would learn that Paul was really dead. It is a recurring urban legend that messages are encoded in songs like that.

Coincidence? I think not! :-O

Alice in Chains's "Nutshell" backwards... backwards you hear the following pretty clearly:

"oh i made my coffin
i'm in need
to be near
beside you
near side

Fears they survive
i feel for such place

oh i can see his bullet
it's dark there's no one
oh lord i sit near beside you
near by you

i'm in need to be near beside you
near beside you
he's like a thief
see let him see
please"

And as you surely know, Layne died of a speedball overdose four years ago.

Make of it what you will.

yes actually I believe Pink Floyd got so sick of the backwards message propaganda that they put in a message saying something along the lines of "congratulations you can play a record backwards"
