Tipping means - giving a small present of money given directly to someone for performing a service or menial task; gratuity:
For Example: ''He gave the waiter a dollar as a tip''

TIP stands for To Insure Promptness and it was orignially used a long time ago people would put money in a jar before their meal to make the service faster.
