I saw it this week end.
I love films and am always very critical... but:
The film seems billed as a fantasy and perhaps a coming of age film but it is much much more than this. The acting by the female leads are wonderful, the storylines are very well entwined and are both moving. The characterisation of the male lead is very strong, but the understanding of his motivation, though slightly examined is left obscure.
I rate this film very highly, and think that it is amongst the best films I have seen this year: Howls Moving Castle also holds a high point, but this film shows much more emotion and realism.
If you have not seen it, then do.

It is very good, for sure - I loved it. BUT I was disappointed, greatly.
It doesn't compare too well to the similarly themed Tideland, which was a much more sophisticated, nuanced film.
All the same, G d T has done it again. A wonderful film.

saw it last night, film is beautifully shot with the the fantasy really artfully entwined with the leads situation. it is very dark and a few viscious set peices (I squrimed at least once in my chair).
warning I would put when we went in and the film started I heard half the cinema grown when they realised it had sub-titles. so be warned.

cant wait to see it but guessing it will have a limited release.
i know it has a release date on dvd of 12th march next year at £13.99 on play.com.
i think its great to have a darker more graphic edge to fantasy sometimes.
