No one takes commitment serious these days....actually, in this day and age, we have the "no guilt" society.

Wedding vows are not what they used to be. When you took your vows it usually was forever, no matter what. Now at the drop of a hat people are seperating and not even giving it a try. They dont fight for their marriage like they did in the days of my parents. Divorce has been made too easy. You want one, just go and file and its a done deal. Before it took more than a piece of paper to seperate married people. They had to have a very good reason to get a divorce in court. Now all you have to do is say I want a divorce and its over. Sad, marriage is like a job now, if you dont like it you move on. You can be in and out of a marriage in no time. God has left the building. Period.

Ive thought that too. I cant believe how many married people are cheating and lying. I take my vows so seriously. I made a promise infront of my husband, my family, my friends and God. I could never break that promise. I knew how serious getting married was and it didnt scare me one bit. We have our rough times lke everyone else but no other man will make it better. I pride myself on being an honest, loving woman for both my husband and my children and would never risk loosing them for one night of stupidity. I dont believe things have always been that way. People just rush into things these days and getting a divorce is too easy. Ive also noticed that a lot of answers are people telling them to get a divorce even if its over somrthing so minor & trivial

Wedding vows used to mean something once upon a time, but now we have temptation that is far beyond belief and heavily weakened individuals that just cant help themselves is on the increase, how can marriage vows mean anything
personally, if a man was to cheat, id play him at his own game, which is what alot of people do these days. like they say, if you cant beat them, then join them then what can be said
I know its shallow, but what the heck

i'm glad to see this question, i agree that it doesn't seem like people think about these vows, til death do we part, they seem to say rather" til i get tired or bored of you or if someone else looks prettier... do we part" its supposed to be through thick and thin, rich and poor, good and bad, no one seems to even think about this anymore, and what makes it so bad is, it hurts the children and sets a terrible example for them. I'm not blaming all divorcees for this, because it only takes one person to have a divorce but it takes 2 people to make it work for life.

I think that in todays context marriage vows are just wastage of time though i believe in marriage a lot. we dont even know what are the pandits chanting and keep on following the rituals. i think the main reason we are adopting these customs is due to the fear of bad luck or so.

There has always been immorality. But, because of the internet and tv, etc. I think we are victims of and often unwitting participants in a culture that entices people to lust and adultery.
May god help us.

Really, how many people really mean it to say, "for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to death do us part". It's become a joke.
