I have to agree with you.
Thanks to people like Louis Walsh, all we have are poor so called cover "bands" with little or no talent that he can hype up with the aid of pals in the TV, press or music business.
Meanwhile good original talent is ignored.
I don't know what the answer is & I don't know why we can't have talent on our screen for a change. I guess we only see acts that these people can control & make money out of and talent is only secondary. So you'll get cover acts doing covers - Raise Me Up is just an example.
They had the awful Girls Aloud miming to a cover on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday (are they a Louis Walsh outfit too?)
It's pathetic.

I'm just sick of corny cover versions anyway, they're just too safe.
I've seen same great covers live however, such as My Generation - Oasis, Helter Skelter - U2 and these are really cool but you don't get them thrown at you on the radio or on TV constantly.

Personally, I don't even think You Raise Me Up is much of a song anyway....

I personally think that it is an amazing song & if bands want to do their own version of it, good for them. It doesn't mean that you have to listen to it. Each person you mentioned has added their own style into the song & made it different & the majority of them are actually quite good. So in answer to your question, no i'm not sick of bands doing covers of You Raise Me Up

Josh Gruber too.
It's annoying as it's actually quite a good song.
By the way, my Ladies Choir in Fife are doing it at their Christmas Concert! I'll get you a ticket if you want to come along!

Yeah i am, if it's not you raise me up then it's unchained melody, don't these record producers realise that when one person has released a song it gets more and more lame every time they re-release it by another singer, once you've heard it you've heard it, i don't wanna hear it in different tones of voice and with a little extra aahaa every now n then!!
