after all we served honoarbly! Take us Viet Nam vets for example we were exposed to agent orange, never offically thanked for serving, and have to wait all day at the va to get an appointment with a broken english speaking doctor, and they still wont settle the agent oprange cases! When you file an agent orange claim they actually have the audasity to wan to tknow the exact date, time oif day, and location you were exposed! There is so much red tape at the VA contary to what a couple of posters who rok there claim that if congress had to under go the same , theyd stop running for re election!

I'm sorry to say that the majority of our "leaders" have nothing but comtempt for their "subjects".
It is ridiculous that the people who have fought for their country are not treated fairly by the politicians who sent them there.
We should all learn the lesson that going to war for some greedy politicians whim's is not the same as being patriotic.

It all comes down to money. The medical benefits alone that are granted to congressmen and senators are so gracious that it would be economically impossible to bestow those benefits on all the men and women who have served in uniform. I can't blame them, though. If I was choosing a medical plan for myself and didn't have to pay for it I'd probably pick the best one with the most benefits, too. It is atrocious how poorly veterans are treated in this country, though. Well, not by the majority of the common people here, but by the representation in Washington. There are some good people in government, but you never hear about them because the media would rather show scandals and bash Republicans.

Because veterans don't make the rules, congress does.

It is disgusting to me that we allow our elected officials to live better than the rest of Americans. Just look at the Medicare debacle.

If America doesn't start getting involved, and demanding accountability, we are going to implode.

I'm still trying to figure our how working for approximately 90 days a year, for 4 or 6 years, equates to a huge pension and the best medical for the rest of your life. Pretty good gig, isn't it?

Makes me wish I would have lived a clean life so I could be elected. But alas, my past would come up and I would never be elected.

Sounds great! They need to take a cut in pay & perks to have some idea what living by their rules ids all about. Better would be to cut them baCK TO WELFARE LEVEL. tHEN THEY might BEDIN TO FEEL SOME EMPATHY FOR THE PEOPLE AT HOME. (damn caps lock)

And we would all get the benefits we deserve. Yes you guys got screwed.

Part of my antiwar position folks - any government that says it supports the troops and then fails to support our veterans is just wrong. We have no business sending you guys to fight if we are going to treat you that way.

you answer your own question.."they milk the system" and do not have plans to share the milk...why not lobby about it and form a group that would be able to express your common cry..?
