... and I need some advice on the situation. I'm 21 years old and we have a baby together who is now 3 months old. He's always a had a bit of a temper but lately it's just got worse and worse. He slapped me across the face the other day when I was holding my baby, and I nearly dropped her.

He's not a drinker, or on drugs either, but I just can't take anymore. There have been incidents where neighbours have called the police but I've had to cover for him because of his job.

It's not that I don't want him to get fired, it's more that I'm scared of his reaction to me if he does get the sack, or if he gets in trouble at work.

Also, will a copper believe me - they're all his mates.

Please help. I can't tell my parents because they've moved to the US and don't really like the guy anyway - I'll just get 'I told you so.'

I live in the US so I don't know about where you are but here there are shelters for abused women. I would recommend reaching out to a police station that isn't the one he works at. They can usually get you into a shelter. You should take pictures of any marks he leaves on you and stop covering up for him. A paper trail will only help you get away from him. It's proof. Not great proof but it helps. Shelters are annonomus so he shouldn't come after you. Maybe you should try to make secret arrangments to move the the US with your parents. An 'I told you so' wouldn't be the end of the world if they are willing to help.
My mom took me and my sisters one day while he was at work. We only took our clothes. Hopped on a bus and that was it. We were outta there.

That's terrible, you shouldn't have to take that kind of abuse from anyone, no matter who they are or think they are. You definitely have to tell someone, the situation you are in is one where you are truly isolated and he is taking full advantage of this. Perhaps approach your Doctor or if they are too closely connected to your husband perhaps one of the midwives/health visitors that come to check on baby. You must break the wall of silence sweetie, this isn't an alright situation it's dangerous, and it's not just you anymore, this is also happening to your baby. Wish you well.

Here in the US, I'd advise you to go to his supervisor. We don't look kindly upon one of ours being violent to a spouse ... my gosh, that's what we respond to for the public! Don't cover for him! He needs help, badly. I know you don't want him fired, but he needs counseling. One of my recent classes I took mentioned this problem and it will not get better, only worse, if left alone. His supervisor can force him to get help before it gets so bad he has to be fired. There are programs exclusively for cops who get too stressed out and lose it. It used to be a "cover up no matter what for one of ours" but nowadays that has changed. No matter what, get help for yourself and your child! Have you mentioned couple's counseling? Maybe he doesn't even know what's gotten into himself, this type of job can get to you if you let it. Don't let this drag on ... pray, get help, and DON'T feel guilty for doing so.

Don't wast any time.
Go to his superiors and talk to them, they will advise and counsel
PLEASE act as soon as possible, something is obviously troubling him and only professional help will resolve the situation.

Cops are usually violent partners. Most cops that I know are losers, no offence to anyone.
