any hints or tips as 2 what i should take with me, leave at home.. My hubby will be in the Military over there, and we will be away for approx 3 years..we are hoping to travel whilst there.where should we go, what should we do? Does anyone have any insider knoweledge of brunei...

sabah malaysia is nearby. kota kinabalu is good for shopping and food. roti channai is a superb indian bread to dip in curry.
if you are outdoorsy, then mt. kinabalu is a great trek. you hike up the mountain and stay in a very basic hotel. then, you start out very early in the morning so you can get to the very top for the sunrise. excellent.
also in sabah you can try the elevated pathway through the rain forest.
i suggest that you get into bird watching, as brunei and sabah are so famous for birds.
the philippines is not far away. cebu the best city destination, with boracay the best beach. the chocolate hills of bohol also nice.

u could go to australia for a month or so
that would be better than brunei
