I am linking a site which has the picture, it looks like an eye and from what I remember it was called crying man, or something like that... I really need to find out what this means so if you know the answer I will be your friend for life!!! ;)
I think it's native american... but it could be something else.

If your serving a life sentence and have some time to kill... or just plain bored and nice, please help me find out.

just wanted to add some detail:

My only brother (23) died a month ago, he used to draw this symbol on everything from notepads to his guitairs, he was very into native american culture and i remember him refering to it once as "crying man"

I am just trying to find some connection and solace in the small details of his life. i know it meant something to him because it's everywhere and thats why I'm trying so hard to figure it out.

thanks again.
xoxo

apparently this picture looks a lot like the eye of Osiris, Ra and Horus but just badly drawn. I put a picture of what the eye looks like. notice the similarities. So the meaning of the eye is to represent the whole universe, similar to the Yin-Yang symbol. The right reflects the Solar, Masculine energy, as well as reason and mathematic. The left reflects fluid, femenine, lunar energy and rules of intuition and magic. Toguether they represent the combined transcendent power of Horus. They believed the eye had a healing and protective power so it was used as an amulet. From this symbol is where we now have the Rx pharmaceutical symbol.
Enjoy. Hope i Helped.

Beaver & White Raven, Bothe are correct. Now, You know that I'm an Aussie, the same as you are, but on matters of the Spirit, I can answer with a fair degree of knowledge & certainty. The Eagle IS Indeed a very powerful symbol of The Great Spirit. But,, it really depends on how it was recieved, what it did,& how close to you it was. "Great Spirit" symbols can be equally as bad as good.(though generally, the eagle is a good sign.) Eg. Very Close to you is a Strong Sign. Excepting for Christ appearing to you, you can't get much stronger a good sign! If the eagle soared high in the sky & got further away from you, that 'could' mean a loss of power or connection to the Great Spirit. In that case, it 'could' be telling you to altar your life to get it to come nearer. But Hey! .... I'm an Aussie! What do I know? ... The Eagle is also a strong symbol in 'Australian' beliefs too! (No, I don't mean West Coast Eagles!! ) ... Soo, What 'type' of eagle was it? If it was a Bald Eagle (ie White head ), then it was American & a symbol of the Great Spirit. But,, If it was a Wedge Tailed Eagle, that means it was Australian!! If it was an Aussie Eagle, you might have to look at aboriginal folklore. More likely though, it represented You, yourself. ........ Drums are used all over the world, but you describe American Indian drums. These are used for a variety of purposes including Rituals to summon the Great Spirit. Your Native American Totem & connection to the Great Spirit is the Bear. That is what you summoned. In a more practical sense, it is highly unlikely that you will ever be harmed by eithe r an Eagle or a Bear if you come into contact with either. Your dream,,, Was NOT a dream! It WAS a Connection. ..... As you are Not a Native American, such an invitation is considered to be rare, & an honour! You have a duty now to find out about it, & learn if it is connected to one tribe or Indian Nation. .... The Old Man seems to be a 'spirit' inviting you to join them. .... But I'm an Aussie! What do I know??

Hello,

I am part Native American and thought the image appeared interesting and honestly I have not seen this symbol before, however, it does not mean it is not Native American.

I am with the first answerer to this question it looks Egyptian to me.

Was your brother interested in any specific culture that might be a clue? I wish you the best of luck and if any thing comes my way I will let you know.

Have a good one--Jammiegirl

You know I honestly and truthfully knew this and you are on the right track. Notice the top left corner of the oval shape eye, its looking up while the 3 prominent lines are daggers to the floor, do you see it? one is on the outside while two come form the eye.
That usually means a spirit or something form the heavens or to the heavens, it may very well be the crying man.

It usually depends on who had it done male, female. The hunter or gatherer, the elder or young warrior etc..

Sorry I wasn't much help.

It has been many ago years now but still hurts. My heart is with you! I hope you find your answers and you learn to cope with your greif without being consumed...it can happen all too easy. Take care, dear heart!

I looked at this a few minutes ago, and now it's really bothering me (like, I am slightly disturbed) because I know I've seen it before, except I can't remember where. Where did you find the picture?

Something about it suggests Latin or South America to me...

ETA: Given that, it may well just be something he designed himself, sort of a personal sigil, based on what he liked. I've got a symbol rather like that myself.

If thats a crying man symbol thats PERSONAL only to him...Ive never seen that particular sign but if its a native symbol as you say he said then who were the indians he hung around with? go find them and ask them... i thought it reminded me of a fighting fish with a sword...going into battle...i grieve for your loss and hope all is well...look up to the sky and feel his spirit up there and all around you...I truely dont know if that is native but,if it is look up someone in the swest..theyre pretty good with their sign discriptions...hope this helps somewhat...be strong for him..
