Coming down this week - looking for somewhere decent to go out that doesn't shut at 11pm - I'm from Newcastle so I'm spoiled for good nightlife.

Depends on what you are into, I would say Camden town, but that's more of a rock n' roll area.

Roadhouse in the Piazza Covent Garden. www.roadhouse.co.uk is open every night of the week until 3am and has live bands who do cover versions and usually come on stage about 10:30. After that it's a DJ till 3am and they do the usual club stuff. It's a £5 entrance and happy hour from 9:30 - 10:30. Normal drinks prices are £3.65 for a bottle of beer.

If you can find someone to get you in, Opium was a lot of fun when I went. It's usually L30 but I paid ten (birthday reservations or something, I still don't know how that worked) One of the most beautiful rooms I've been in (ever) and the music was really well put together.

Get a Time Out London magazine, it has listings of all the best clubnights, bars and DJ sets in London all through the week.

For a cheesy night out try Stawberry Moons off Regent St. There are a couple of good bars there as well as the ice bar. Its best night is Thursday and is lots of fun... only one condition- you have to be a little drunk to fully appreciate the place!

Try Camdem. There are lots of good clubs with live bands. Koko and Barfly are good, but there are also lots more to check out
