edit: i know from experience (i called and got a quote) that Dell costs more for less features. Also, companies like Dell tend to use lower quality parts to save themselves money.

This may be a matter of opinion, but I would say Dell. Wait for the sales that come up on their web site and watch for their fliers in the mail. There are many models and you will be able to choose the right amount of features for the price.
