The US isn't maintaining its past lifestyle now. There are more homeless than ever, with the rising cost of housing fewer people are able to own their own homes, more young adults are having to move back in with their parents because they can't afford their own homes or apartments. People are working more than ever but are still falling farther & farther behind. Spiraling costs in healthcare are putting it more and more out of reach. Between less money being available for primary and secondary education, school closings, and larger class sizes, a decent education is getting further out of reach. Manufacturing and production jobs have been exported to other countries where the labor costs are cheaper, so there are fewer jobs in these areas for all of those people who can only get that limited american public education. The only sure place where there is anticipated growth is the prison industry. It ain't just for black folks any more.
The american standard of living is quickly going straight to hell NOW. It's not going to take 100 years. And all you teens & 20 somethings...you should care, this is the world you're inheriting, and you have a long time to be stuck with it.

i believe the next major war will be for food. i do not think this current conflict is for oil. the USA has lots of oil. they need to use it wisely. the greenies need to let them drill for oil in every place they can cleanly. new technologies allow us to get oil out of the ground with less damage to the area now.
the advances in tech's such as bioengineering and nano technologies will help all areas. when the worlds population hits critical mass that is when the next war will begin. i have read that the USA can produce enough food to feed the entire world in only 8% of its land. if that is true or not it does not matter. the USA exports a large amount of food now. its not all in the news. maybe for a reason?
who gets the food and who does not will be the question. the Muslims believe to give food to someone that is hungry is a noble cause. maybe this terrorist problem will end with the giving of food?
the living standard in the USA i feel is in jeopardy. but what is the answer? with the world becoming more and more flat and the Internet getting more and more useful. what is the answer? is there an answer?
china has tried to buy oil companies from the USA for control of oil. they control the panama canal and have invested in Africa for its oil and other resources.
i trust pres. Bush. i feel he is on the ball and knows all that will happen. we are not allowed in on all the secrets that he and others in power know. if we were then we might make the same choices he does. many people complain that bush is bad and does not know what hes doing. maybe they do not have the information that he does and can not understand why he does the things he does. its like trying to tell a blind man what the color orange is. these people that complain about bush are blind. he has all the Intel. his decisions are based on that.

Guess what...people have been saying this for over 30 years.
You know what. We are still here.
The United States will remain a dominant player for two reasons:
We are a democratically elected republic (China still only has 1 party)
We have a free market economy which encourages competition and punishes corporate chicanery. (The Chinese and Indian stock exchange do not demand nearly as much transparency as we do)
Unlike other China and India, our "Freedom of the Press" means Americans have a very low tolerance for government and cooperate corruption

Maybe you're not aware that the global community is making attempts to leave the way of non-renewable resources in favor of infinite resources. Alternative power sources such as hydro-electricity, wind-electricity, solar electricity, and nuclear electricity are gaining increased market share. Vehicle manufactures are ditching gasoline in favor of ethanol and hydrogen. The military and public transportation have been using clean, natural gases for years.
Synthetic materials are on the rise as the cost for them goes down. We now have the ability to create much of our dependence in white coveralls in a laboratory. The future is a scientific one.
Guess who's at the forefront? None other than yours truly... the US of A. Things are only getting better for us. Don't believe everything you see or read in the media, you're likely to get only a fraction of the story.

Ah but the rich will. And the rest of us don't count, on either side. And , yes, most Americans are too dumb to realize it.

USA has been number one for many years.
Maybe it is time for other countries to have the chances to be number one.
