The great comics are the ones that can poke fun at themselves as well as others. Chris Rock talks about being bussed out of the hood to all white schools, Richard Pryor did a great routine after he set himself on fire, Bill Cosby talked about his kids and how hard it was to keep up with all five. One of the all-time greats is George Carlin, a white guy who could take any issue, no matter how serious, and make it hilarious. Being able to laugh at oneself is half the battle, making the audience laugh with you is the other half.

Comedian's come in all colours and shapes. Being able to make anyone laugh could make you a candidate. As for what it takes to be a great BLACK stand-up comedian I don't know, I'm white.

Black comedians excel at telling jokes about farts and feces and body odor, and hinting at what goes on in the men's showers down at the local prison. I'm not kidding! I've never seen a White comedian who could tell a fart joke as if he were just now discovering what a fart was, or as if he were letting the audience in on the big secret that farts stink. But a Black comedian can carry it off while looking like a real conniving devil. I saw Arsenio Hall do it. Come to think of it, Arsenio Hall sounds a lot like **** Hole, but maybe that's just a coincidence.

Being funny helps............but as I remember him, Richard Pryor was great at poking fun at blacks from a white point of view and ending up managing to make Whitey look stupid and rascist. Extremely clever.
I wish I could remember some examples.
Good luck.

I think the first step would be to lose the bigoted mindset you have. Classifying people and categorizing people does nothing but divide and create hatred.
You are a human, and therefore the color of your skin is and should be completely irrelevant.

Well, obviously, the first requirement is to be black. The second is to be funny.
