That is such a stupid concept. The whole "institutionally racist" thing has probably done more to harm poice/ community relations than anything else.

How can an institution be racist? People are racist. You might as well ask if all builders, milkmen/ bank clerks/telesales/secretaries/doctors/gym instructors...etc... are racist.

Inside the police uniform is a living, breathing human being. Some are great people, some are scumbag to55ers and most lie somewhere between the two extremes.

You want to experience prejudice? Try putting on a uniform and walking the streets for a day.

I don't have personal experience of this so I can't speak for myself. However, I know there are cases where takeaway people of ethnic minority backgrounds are harassed by youngsters in the neighbourhood and when they report them to the police they are not taken seriously and the harassment goes on for years. About two or three years ago, the owner of a Chinese takeaway was attacked by a customer and he fought back. In the fight, both got injured but only the Chinese guy was prosecuted. The customer got away with it when he was the trouble maker. Before the law, everyone should be equal so it is absolutely wrong for the police to be racists.

Why is this question never asked about the Firefighters or Ambulance Workers? Police do a difficult job; on the one hand you have Parliament saying "Crime is out of control; do something" then they say "You can't be seen arresting these people; it's racist." and every time they do, some Judge or Juror lets them out on "community service". And the prison service is a joke anyway... Dear, oh dear; you've started me off now...

Some are, some are not, It is impossible to have a totally PURE police force. Ask a man/woman to put their life on the line every day when they go out to work and you will have to accept that some of them are not going to be "wonderful people". But I do believe that in general, they are as good if not better than most law enforcement organisations throughout the world.

What even the Indian and black police? I think they are people who do a difficult job. I have a lot of respect for the police and have called them in times of trouble, yes I've been beaten by a couple in my youth, I've also slept with a few. People are people.
