For those of you who don't know, the show is all about death and it's about a family who own and operate a funeral home. Everytime we drive past a funeral home she gets all excited and mentions the TV show. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is this TV show popular amongst teens? To me, the show seems dark and disturbing.

I watched the show as a teenager and still occasionally catch a few episode reruns, and I'm far from disturbed and don't have a dark personality. Popularity wise, you either like the show or don't. The show is very entertaining and is very dramatic and each character has may layers of issues that they have to resolve. Many times the dead is used as a backdrop in the show, or are used to help the main characters deal with an issue at hand. Passing by the funeral home just reminds her of the show, just like sometimes a hearse reminds me of it. There shouldn't be anything to worry about unless she shows other erratic behavior. Who knows maybe dealing with the dead is her calling, but I'm sure she just really enjoys it and maybe identifies with the characters (especially the youngest daughter). But depending on her age, if she is a young teen or older teen I would definitely keep an eye on her viewing the show, cause there are various adult situations.

The Tv show is about relationships and not truly about death though you can see this show as a learning tool for her that she can see how a type of relationship is played out and how life is connected to death. If you tell her she cant watch it she will find a way to do so, instead of banning her from it try watching it with her and talk to her about the show during commercial breaks that way you can understand why she likes the show and you can monitor her behavior as well, so that if this is not just a it's a tv show that entertains me type thing you can seek out some counsiling for her there might be something going on that she is not sharing with you and this could be a way to find out.

It's actually a drama about LIFE. So the funeral home you drive by reminds her of the show? Not a big deal. It's a very adult hour, and any parent allowing their kid to watch it should be watching as well--just like any other ADULT program. I have a neighbor who's never seen a single episode but knows it's straight-up pornography.

Watch it. It's got the throne in my tv-viewing heart as best-loved drama. I'm 43.

It depends on her age - Six Feet Under is definitely a very adult show, with a lot of scenes which might not be suitable for under 18s - death, gay sex, drugs, etc.

However, I think it is one of the best series I ever saw. I was completely hooked. It is not as morbid as you might think, and it isn't just about death. It's very much more about life. It's extremely witty, often laugh-out-loud funny, and so well scripted. Anyone who hasn't seen it should watch it from the beginning. It is definitely not to be missed.

You are a parent, so nobody on here can tell you what you need to be concerned with. However, I too am a parent and my belief is that you should educate your children about the differences between television and reality. They should be free to watch what they want to. In other words; rather than being concerned about what she is watching, you should think about how she is percieving it. is it in a manner of something other than entertainment?

Be careful. If you shelter her from certain things it could be far worse than exposing her to them and then sharing your thoughts on the subject. Kids will learn what they want to in one place or another.

It is a very popular show. I think if your daughter is very young she shouldn't watch it. There is a lot of explicit content in it. But if shes in the older teen age I don't see a problem as long as you explain what is happening in the show and why.

Most of the TV shows in this day and age range from tasteless to out and right sick. I haven't heard of this one before, but the odds are that it falls into this range someplace.

Just sounds like a phase she may be going through. There is probably something that caught her attention. I wouldn't worry about it.
