Your son can keep his name if he likes, it's totally his choice.
If you wanted to keep your name you can also. There is no law that says you HAVE to take your husbands name. In fact, men could take the womans name if they wanted to. Or just stay the same. Whatever you all prefer, I suppose it depends on what your fiance's surname is, I hope it's not a 'Pratt' or 'Yanker' or 'Wobblebottom' or something.

Your son is quite entitled to keep his existing name. In fact, your partner would have to make a specific application to have the name changed on adoption. It is quite common for people to keep their birth name in these circumstances.

If your partner adopts your son, its usually done so that they can have the partners last name, but yes, he can kep yours when doing the paperwork, keep your last name, but you can add his also like if your sons name was john and your last name was smith and your partners was brown you can have John Brown Smith....this way your last name is there and your son can decide when he is older how to sign his name if he decides to use your partners

Yes. My ultimately it is up to the parents of the child whether or not his son's name will be changed. When my little brother was adopted he wanted to keep my step-mom's name(aubert) and take my dad's name (hester); so now his name is Anthony George Aubert-Hester
