Hi,

I've heard a quite upbeat version of the often covered "House of the Rising Sun" and I would like to know who it is by. It is not recent - probably released sometime in the 70s.

The most notable feature of the song is they way they extend "sun" to something like "in the house of the riiising su-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-un"

It is also much quicker than the Animals version, and I don't think it has the piano or organ music in the background.

Any help would be really really appreciated!!

Take your pick...this song has been covered by numerous artists here are a selected few that may be what you are looking for (I tried to stick to the 70's but threw in a couple of newer bands in case the remake is not as old as you think):

Bachman-Turner Overdrive
Pink Floyd
Bon Jovi
Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Doors
Duran Duran
The Eagles
Led Zeppelin
The Moody Blues
The Rolling Stones
Toto
U2 and Green Day

Its an old appalachian folk song. So no one know who wrote it. It's probably a work in progress. Its handed down from one person to another. As it is passed down lyrics were added or changed. There are many versions, but the Animals was the most popular. There is a lot of research done, mostly on were is the real house of the rising sun is located or if it exist.

That was Frigid Pink, back in the 70's. I had this record at one time.
