Is there a way to find out if someone has read an email without requesting a receipt? I have heard there is a 'tag' that can be attached but this may only be for newletters sent from the server (?)

www.constantcontact.com will track any emails sent, and give you feedback on how many bounced or were unopened.

From the normal free email service providers like yahoo, rediff or gmail you cannot track from the way you want. But if u design your own web-mail software with modifications and a small program you may be able to track.....

http://www.abika.com/Reports/verifyemail.htm

This search helps trace location from where an email originated. Generally returns city, state or province, country and possible street, latitude, longitude, area or zip code from where email originated. Please include a full copy of email with headers. Add the reverse email address search to search any associated Name and/or optional address of person using email address. In many instances it can also be possible to trace source of email messages without headers.
