I have a bath tub/shower stall I need to replace. I have no way to get underneath it, because it's in a basement bathroom with a concrete floor. How do I connect the drain pipe from the tub to the drain pipe in the floor, and insure it's sealed(water tight).

The drain comes apart from the inside of the tub .Using a pair of channel locks, insert the handles down the drain to turn the top of the drain to the left, once unscrewed you can remove the tub. To reseal you can use plumbers putty to seal the connection between tub and drain pipe. If you need a visual aid to my description just check out your local hardware store's plumbing fixtures and you can see the part and how they work, before messing with what you have.

you connect all your drain plumbing first and check for leaks by pouring water down the opening, then place your tub over the drain it should then be aligned with the hole in your tub,the drain for your tub should now be able to screw onto the the plumbing underneath, put plumbers putty on the tub drain first then tighten it up and you are done.

usually you have to cut and access hole in the wall where the drain is. i usually make them the width of the stud opening and as high as needed, this should give you the room you need to make the drain connections and supply connections. after your done cover the hole with thin plywood and paint to match existing wall
