I had the same problem .. I use to just lay there are close my eyes and couldn't get to sleep. I would get paranoid and look at the clock .. thinking I have an hour to get to sleep other wise I will be grumpy and irritable in the morning .. Time would keep passing and I would get more and more stressed here are some ideas that may help you! Best wishes ...
1) Physical activicty - If I went for a jog in the afternoon I would just fall aspleep with it was time to go to sleep.
2) LOL study - Just study for 30 minutes or so before going to sleep A) you will get bored and will get sleepy B) it wouldn't hurt your grades ..
3) Massage - After a good relaxing massage I fall right asleep .. a hot shower may work too ..
4) Electric blanket - There is something about an electric blanket that just makes me fall asleep. I think its the warmth that reminds me of sunbathing.
If you are tired in the mornings then a walk or jog does a world of difference. Seriously you wont feel like it when you wake up .. but if you fight procrastination you will feel great once its finish. Exercise followed by a hot shower and a facial scrub e.g citrus blast is guareenteed to wake you up!!! Maybe a smoothie for breakfast could help too.
I know what you are going for is difficult and you dont want to annoy the rest of your family.. hopefully try my tips and you might find yourself just dosing off..
Best wishes

1. Do a chore you absolutely hate that will get yourself to bed fast. Exersize about 2 hours before going to bed.Don't eat after 8:00pm It works for me.
2. Set your alam clock aroud 5-5:30am after a month your body clock will readjust and you will wake up earlier and hopefully you can not be so tired during the day.
If worse comes to worse get a special clock that is also a light that simulates a sunset and sunrise to make you fall asleep at an desired time.
These things work for me, they may not work for you but you could try. I hope you find my tips helpfull. Now get to bed!

Well, maybe try drinking warm milk and set an alarm and stop being so tired by falling asleep and reminding yourself you have a certain time you have to get up. sometimes the body reacts to that.

Hi, Go to bed at a decent hour, at least 8 hours before you have to get up in the morning. Before going to bed take a nice hot bath, relax and soak in the hot water. Don't drink anything with caffeine in it after 3 in the afternoon. When you go to bed do not have the TV, radio, or music playing. When I have trouble falling asleep I do this. I start at my toes and I say to myself, "Toes go sleep." then I say, "Feet go to sleep." then I say, "Ankles go to sleep." Continue to do that with every body part working your way up the body. I have never gotten all the way to my head before I fall asleep. I hope this helps you and I commend you for wanting to please your parents.

all you need is high determination
1.reading is a good way to make you fall asleep. probably a dictionary. that way you learn the words and fall asleep easier.
2.you have to ensure that you sleep for at least sleep 8 hours. that way, your body will have a good rest.

You can go to your dr. and ask about sleep aids. You may be able to use them temporarily until your body gets more in tune with the schedule you are trying to keep. This has worked for me. I have the same problem from time to time.
