I am married to the son of a preacher. I have met many preachers and their wives. All that I have ever met call their husbands by their first names.

It depends on two things......Is your husband comfortable with you calling him by his first name? Are the people who attend the Church comfortable with you using his first name?

To be proffessional in any work there has to be a certain level of respect and reverance given to those in authority whether that be for a member of the Church or your boss.

Speak to your husband and then ask a prayer to God for enlightenment if you still cannot agree.

My Dad is a vicar (Church of England version of a Preacher) and my Mum calls him by his first name when they are in church, and obviously out of church too.

I kind of think it would be very controlling of you husband to ask you to call him Reverend in public, it sounds like he is trying to make sure that you are kept in your place in public. Don't let him get away with it! You call him his first name, he's your husband and your partner before he is anything else.

He is just a man , and I assume everyone knows he is your husband. so call him by what you feel comfortable with in public (privately Binky or poochy should be kept seperate)

Many of the TV preachers call each other by the first name and there seemes to be no problems. Some snooty perishiners may have a problem though. that is there problem.

Reverand is a title of nobility and in our country there is no title of nobility recognized. but as a term of indearment is acceptable , or as a job title.

.That depends does your husband want to be seen as a religious person, or does or husband want to be seen as a christian leader of the church? There is a difference.I would hope he would pick the christian leader. My pastor and his wife is loved by all us members,we are all very close to each other, I feel like I could talk to him about any problem without being judged. The reason our pastor is so loved is because he is our leader,he is not our superior. We call him Brother Gary, his wife calls him by his name, even though he is our Reverend, a lot of times he will humble his self, and act like we are the special ones.I'm afraid I would be attending a different church if my pastor expected that from his wife.Jesus asks nothing from us except our hearts,he is the most humble of all creation,so shouldn't we all be that way with each other.

Well! Check out if u wanna take my statement as an answer.

Call him 'father' as he sure is going to be for ur kids and then more appropriate as he is the 'father' figure in the church and then probability of he being 'father' to many other children in the future too.

Ask him what he prefers you to address him as....

I would personally say that you have a special advantage and could call him by his first name...but then again I don't go to church! I am unawares to the church ethics code...sorry.

I still say ask your husband what he wants.

Does one of the tenets of your church restrict you from asking your husband what you should call him?
