I'm planning to visit Morocco soon and hoping to stock up on pretty colourful headscarfs :)

1)How much does an average scarf cost?

2)Is it easy to find square shaped headscarves (as I don't suit rectangle ones).
When I was in Egypt I found it really hard to find nice square headscarfs- So I'm wondering if it is the same in Morocco.

3)How do I say 'square shaped' in Moroccan Arabic?

4)Can you recommend a particular good shop to buy scarfs from. I will be travelling to Marakesh, Casablanca, Meknes etc

1. I can't tell you a specific price as I have never bought one. However I can assure you that they will be cheap.
I bought some sandals, very pretty and detailed and they cost me £3.
So anywhere from £3/£4 upwards.

2. You will find they will be square/rectangle shape in most shops.

3. I don't know but I don't think you will need this anyway, plus they speak good English.

4. All the shops are good but remember to haggle/barter, don't feel bad they expect it. You could get the item for 50% of the original price.

I've added some websites that you may find usefull.
I love Morocco (my husband is Moroccan), Marrakech is my favourite place!
Enjoy x

If I'm the only one who answers here, will I get the 10 points? ;)
But I try to say something to deserve at least one star...

1) As in other countries in the area, you are supposed to levy the official price (even 50% is ok). I found a site that used the word "veil". I'm not sure it's the same as headscarf, but anyway, those veils cost $12-20.

3) Morocco's Arabic is just slighltly different from Maghreb, and French is still widely known, not to mention English as the universal language.

Cant answer your question about price, Morocco is a bargain paradise, if you don't bargain they will rip you off, they will rip you off anyway, if you say you are from the US they jack up the price, they think you are rich and if a blond girl you must be a concubine, if you are wearing costume jewelry they jack up the price, if you want to buy quantity they will jack up the price, best to get a guide and go into the Medina, The guide will charge but in the long run he will save you many headaches..Don't go alone.
