Keep your thumb loosely covered with gauze to keep it as clean and dry as possible. The nail may or may not come off. I've lost a finger nail and a toe nail. They both grew back. let it come off on its own. Don't pull it off.

Generally, it (your thumbnail) should grow up again, unless you have smashed it beyond all possibilities of re-growth, although from your description, it seems, that your nail will grow, afresh and new. Meanwhile, just show your injury to a good doctor, preferably to a surgeon, and seek his / her advice, for quick and safe recovery.

yes, but for awhile it will just be a scab. The nail might not look the same. It might be a little bent or something in that nature. But it should be fine if it was torn clean.

Yes...it will grow back...to speed up the process a bit you can eat jello or I believe you can buy gelatin capsules at your local pharmacy...gelatin aids in the growth of fingernails

Yes it definitely will.....but owww.....sorry for the pain.
It will take some time but keep it clean you don't need an infection. I don't know how it looks but you may also need to apply some antiseptic ointment and cover it with some gauze.
Once it's all better you may have some slight ridges and bumps but it all clears up.
good luck .............................Sorry

Ouch! I guess that damage! a sparkling nail will initiate to develop lower than your damaged nail, and the damaged one will finally fall off, yet this may take weeks, if no longer months. i comprehend it doesn't seem too appealing yet there is no longer truly any thanks to % it up. do not attempt to eliminate the former nail inspite of the actuality that you do. you would possibly want to continually paint something else of your nails pink to examine ;-)

yes it will grow back but depending on how you smashed it, it may be bumpy or even have discoloration for quite awhile.

Yes. It sucks that you did that but eventually you'll be back to normal. My brother mangled his to the extent that it grows crooked, but everyone else who I know that has done it is back to normal now.
(damn! that hurts!)

If you want it to look nice again, try rubbing a piece of pounded garlic.
