I'm not approving of what he did, it was most definitely wrong. What I'm thinking, though, is that he has apologized, but now they have this thing with him and Jesse Jackson agreeing he needs to seek help. What he said was undoubtedly unacceptable, but it's not like he was screaming "You'd better watch your back N-er, because I'm going to knife you went you aren't expecting it" or "n-ers like you are proof that the blacks should've never been freed from slavery!" People lose their anger all the time, and he wasn't violent. Whether he is racist or he just said what he did to hit a sensitive subject towards the heckler, he didn't threaten the guy's life. He's apologized, it needs to be left alone, now. (I bet if it had been a white heckler and a black stand-up, Jackson would've praised the guy for throwing racial slurs.)

Does anyone agree with me on this?

Yeah I notice some of you had said that it was a false apology and some saying the country needs to move on. I'm agreeing with that. I don't think we should forget about it totally, but that the country needs to move on and not give it high attention anymore. The thing with Gibson, yeah he was wrong too, but the Michael Richards thing is what's high profile, so that's why I only focused on that. I'm also thinking he's probably happy with this Richards thing, because it takes some heat off of him since the attention is now diverted towards Richards.

tjmaxx17...I said I BET he would be praising the guy, I didn't say definitely. That means it's my guess but if I was proven wrong then I was wrong. I'd rather be wrong when it comes to him, but from what I've seen his anti-white and would most likely praise the guy. You saying I'm ignorant is quite rude though. I think you take my comment a little too seriously.

This was the shot in the arm that black America needed. Unfortunately it took an incident like this but now we see what it is like for someone of the opposite race to use the N word in the same manner that some blacks use it. When black comedians use it, it is accepted by most blacks and they don't realize how ugly a word it can be. In a way, we should thank Michael Richards for what he did, he put it in our faces and now we know how it truly feels. I hope that this would pressure black performers who use it on a regular basis to end the practice of that word. If they continue to use it after this then they are nothing more then hypocrites, but who knows maybe in a year or two some other white comedian will remind us once again how ugly the N word really is.

I kind of agree, but you have to realize that what we think personally is different from what can be said or accepted in front of the whole world. I can guarantee you that if I were there in the club I would have thought it was funny and the hecklers deserved what they got from Richards.

On the other hand, that is one weird situation, and if everyone started acting like that we would have chaos and not a very nice world very quickly.

There are lots of things that are true from all aspects of this situtaion, but Michaels was supposed to be the professional. He lost his temper and that never looks good or can be condoned.

He has to take what he is given and say he is sorry, and he should be ... he is on TV and he is representing all of us as human beings.

On the other hand ... the hecklers are making a big deal about it, getting lawyers and whining because they got some publicity. Eveyone of every color has to endure terrible situations in their life that are unfair .. and if that is the worst that they ever have to deal with in their lives they should count themselves lucky and shut up ... and do not heckly people or talk loudly at public events in the future.

I'm probably not real poltically correct on this one, sorry.

I think it would've probably died down had Michael Richards simply apologized - but he decided to say that he wasn't a racist.
He clearly has some race issues - denying the fact that he is a racist implies that this is something that is inherently imbedded within us all and could come out at anytime. Is that true? Not at all. I wouldn't use those words.

Some would argue that word alone is life-threatening. Not necessarily from danger, but threatening their well-being!

Also, he's a professional. He needs to act like it.

Finally, I wholeheartedly disagree that Jesse Jackson would praise someone for using racial slurs.

First of all would everybody say that it was alright if the guys were Jewish...nope...Mel Gibson didnt get a break did he now...and if there was a white heckler in the audience the Black comedian would have embrassed his *** out of the venue...thats the difference its called professionalism...if Kramer was that good then thats what he would have done...and anyways he heckled the group as they were walking to there seats. So who right now? The apology was all PR, not really heart felt. dat all

Jesse JAckson does no condone using racist epitaphs, no matter who is shouting it. So, by you saying something like that, it really shows your ignorance. And I agree that the most Richards couldve done was apologize, and he did. I accepted it and its time for our country to move on. The hecklers are actually suing Richards. For what? And do they really expect to win? I think they are wasting their time.

It's all so pathetic. Who cares if he called a n*ggar a n*ggar!?! I get called a fat ***** now and again too, you don't see me boo-hoo-ing over it. All people are entitled to say whatever they wish rather it's right or wrong. And believe it or not, there are worse things that a person could be besides a "racist" like a mass murderer or a child molester. People need to get over it!!!

yeah, i think it has however i think that many believe that he needs to be highly embarrassed a point down a peg or two before they would stop it though which is really pretty sad.

He should have replied "I know I'm not funny at this very moment. But neither are you. And you know what? I'M GETTING PAID and you're not so shut up before I have you escorted out!"
