i have a cd-rom and whenever i play VCDs the PC shuts downs.I have to install windows again and that takes me a lot of time.

everything but dvd disks for that you need a dvd ROM drive, a combo Drive or a DVD writer

What a surprise! A CD ROM will NOT play DVDs...I'll alert the media. And gee, Nero Showtime doesn't play the DVDs that won't play on a CD Player. You are the observant one.

Problems reading and writing CDs are common. In many cases, the problem cn be solved by checking the PC with free software, hardware modifications and cleaning the CD drive. I found the information at http://fixit.in/cdrdrive.html useful.

u can have a virus in the other partition or u r using corrupted windows .format and then install windows.please don't format if u are unaware of it or it will give u headache.Or try in any other media players

It cannot play DVD's . They rest all a big YAP !

they can not play DVD but they are able to play VCD.Maybe need some codecs.
