That mute little voice in your head that keep your balance and sense of right and wrong, even if you go the other way, but deep inside it exist in every one of us. Morales and consciousness in human beings have an origin of course, they might be relative, but at the end, the story of mankind is somehow a struggle in ethical values, consicousness, morales. what do you think? what is in your opinion the origin of consciousness in human beings?

1. Moral codes have nothing to do with religion, aetheism, agnosticism. The past and recent religious scandals should show that.

2. It's within one's genetic makeup whether or not they possess the moral (ability to tell right from wrong) gene.

3. Upbringing has a lot to do with helping shape a child's moral direction, but if the child had scramble eggs at conception, there's a good chance for genetic anomalies that cause Sociopathic, or Psychopathic behavior.

4. As much as we would all desire a perfect world, there will always be genetic anomalies, unfairly blamed upon those who do no practice a monotheistic or polytheistic religion. Statistics should be studied for accurate accounts.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes.

As for your very last question - I don't really know about the origin of 'consciousness' because being conscious of our existence must be an evolutionary result.

Having a 'conscience' on the other hand, which is what I think you are actually asking, is a different story.

Speaking from an evolutionary point of view. Having developed a conscience (concepts of morals, right and wrong etc.. ) is something that is developed in order for our species to multiply and grow stronger.

Thinking of it at the most basic level. If we allowed murder to be an acceptable method of solving arguments, we would quickly exterminate our own species. That is why murder is wrong. If incest was acceptable, it would handicap our species genetically and make us a weaker life form.

Society's 'best practice' has developed over time into what we call 'conscience' and 'morals'. The reason killing one another and abusing one another is 'wrong' is that it does not enhance the development of our species. We have taken after the ant in some ways. The best way to populate, build and strengthen our chances of survival as a species is to pull together and co-operate.

That is why we have morals and consciences. It's all down to perfecting the gene pool, and protecting it's future development. That is why we do anything at all.

Morality is a very intersting topic. It depends, if you subscribe to the beleif in God, them a conscience is innate within you directing you towards the Good - the source of which is Goodness/ God. The set up of moral values are either achieved by the process of reasoning or simply by following a given divine command if someone subscribes to religious moral or one may object to parts of it or reject it altogether.

Scientifically, conscience is beleived to be genetically determined. The discipline of phsychology beleives that morality is taught by parents, the child leanrs from his/ her superego The guilt one feels when he/ she disobey certain standards of morality is i think caused by the effects it has on one's self or society.Very often this values clashes, killing the individual and reinstating old orders regardless of it's relevance and efficacy.

If people think that there are moral absolutes, then surely they would want to impose these ideals on the larger community and enforced it by law, i for one don't think that's a good idea. But it's not like i have a ready solution for it either.

The human being were created having the MIND that is programmed to discriminate the right and the wrong. Then the experiences, family, religious teachings, and society keep developing minds in either a positive or negative direction. But still everyone can find the old programmed directions in his mind that still can tell him the right from the wrong, even if his mind was modified by the society.

The consciousness of human beings begins with a breath.... the world moulds itself about that person until they learn what it is that is out there.....

What is out there, offers its own wisdom; whereby, your parents learned the answer to, "do you want the world to teach your child the difference between right and wrong, or do you want to teach them at home?".........

Morals are what is within the individual once they had an option to make a decision when they entered the world without a "coach".....

It is no coincidence that because we are conscious we contemplate about conscience.

We can observe, imagine, dream.

We can invent gods (sky god to John Frum), religion (cargo cults).

We can even wishfully link conscience to divine or have our consciousness raised by learing from neuroscience and evolutionary psychology it is a different story.

Morals are partially learned, partially common to humans, and partially common to almost all mammals that live in groups - the latter two might be better thought of as out "metamorals".

Consciousness is really not that special. I would say its an illusion, but I will admit its a pretty compelling one, it is not exclusive to the human species however.

part of it may be inherent in us, and part biology of our minds, we are just "wired" that way,,, at the same time a part of it is learned,, what we are taught or exposed to,,,,,, i come to this conclusion when you consider the lack of morals and a seemingly lack of consiousness,,,,,,some peole just seem to lack both,, sometimes they are "raised" in a moral way,, and sometimes they are severally abused,,,, were they born without a sense of or ability to learn morals? or was the abuse something that removed the ability from them?
at the same time, you find people who are raised without moral teachings, or abused, and they are very moral people,,,,, so i would go with the concept that most of us are born with moral abilities, a few may of gotten "mis-wired" and lack them,,,,,, then after birth our expeirences can have a great impact on our natural abilities.
