Unless requested otherwise, this piercing is typically done at 14g. The length of the barbell when pierced initially is typically 3/4"-1" to allow for swelling (determined based on original tongue size and piercer preference. In some cases barbell will be larger than 1"). After swelling goes down, wear a length best suited for your tongue.

If you have trouble getting a 14g in, try a 16g since its a bit smaller and then a few weeks later go back and try the 14 again. Never force it in and if you need help, a professional piercer will be able to get it in for you.

Assuming you're getting it finished professionally, they don't seem to be going ot reuse rings you have already got, so the earring you have would not somewhat matter quantity. usually, they pierce at 14 ga. you could request a greater robust gauge. Tongue piercings are additionally undemanding to stretch, in case you wanted to try this at any element. The earring you have (i anticipate with the aid of which you propose a right now barbell, perhaps from an business or something?) is in all probability not long adequate besides. The preliminary rings should be somewhat longer, longer than maximum folk understand. a brilliant style of human beings have a brilliant style of swelling with tongue piercings. I have been given mine at a 12. in basic terms because of the fact. No actual reason in any respect.
