The infection you could get is called Listeriosis. Its a fairly new discovery, I just found out about it from a nutritionist. If you start getting fever, chills, muscle aches, diarrhea and upset stomach you should call your doctor. Advanced signs are a stiff neck, headache, convulsions or loss of balance. Listeriosis can cause miscarriage, premature delivery, serious sickness, or death of a newborn baby. So, DO NOT EAT hot dogs, luncheon meats, bologna or other deli meats UNLESS they are reheated till steaming hot. DO NOT EAT refrigerated pate, meat spreads from a meat counter, or smoked seafood found in the refrigerated section of the store. DO NOT DRINK raw (unpasteurized) milk and do not eat foods that have unpasteurized milk in them. DO NOT EAT salads made in the store such as ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad or seafood salad. DO NOT EAT soft cheese such as Feta, queso blanco, queso fresco, Brie, Camembert cheeses, blue veined cheeses, and Panela UNLESS it is labeled as made with pasteurized milk. Make sure the label says "made with pasteurized milk".
This is all the information on my flyer the nutritionist gave me. It doesn't say anything about smoked ham, but it might go under luncheon meat depending on what kind of smoked ham it was. In any case don't worry about it unless you start getting sick, if you do call your doctor.

I hadn't heard that smoked ham was bad for pregnant ladies. Does this include all-natural hams? Smoking is, after all, an ancient natural way to preserve ham.
In any case, it is unlikely that one time can matter very much.

Don't worry about it. I smoked and drank and only found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks and the doctor said that my baby is 100% ok. During weeks 6 tot 10 is when the baby is growing the most and when the organs are forming. So son't worry about it to much. Sit back and relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

There probably is nothing wrong with that, I had sushi really early on in my pregnancy, and the baby is fine. Don't worry, hope you enjoyed your food at least. Just really be careful though, you especially don't want to eat any raw or not thoroughly cooked meat.

You're fine. Ham is fine. Nothing terrible is going to happen. Take a deep breath.
You should try to eat healthy foods, so your body gets the nutrition it needs to nourish your baby.
Mainly stay away from alcohol, drugs and smoking.
