Unsaturated hydrocarbon is the name of a type of organic molecule in organic chemistry, that contains a chain of carbons. "Unsaturated" refers to the fact that each of the carbons bonds aren't with 4 separate molecules, but can, instead have double or triple bonds.

There are three types of unsaturated hydrocarbons:

alkenes
alkynes
dienes (plus polyenes and poly-ynes)
The physical properties of unsaturated hydrocarbons are very similar to those of the corresponding saturated compounds. They are very slightly soluble in water.

Except for aromatic compounds, unsaturated hydrocarbons are highly reactive and undergo addition reactions to their multiple bonds. Typical reagents added are hydrogen halides, water, sulfuric acid, elemental halogens and alcohols.

A saturated hydrocarbon has utilized all of its bonding electrons to make single bonds to other atoms. It can not make additional bonds without cutting off part of the existing molecule. An example would be C4H10. An unsaturated hydrocarbon contains double or triple bonds between certain atoms. These bonds may be broken and new atoms attached without disrupting the existing skeleton of the hydrocarbon. An example would be ethane, C2H6

saturated hydrocarbons have single bonds unsaturated hydrocarbons have multiple (double/triple) bonds Saturated fats have single bonds (u were wrong when u said that they had multiple bonds) and yes they are bad for u! Reason they are bad:- first of all let me tell u how they are produced Unsaturated fats (ones with double bonds) are hydrogenated(hydrogens are added to them) to produce saturated fats(ones having single bonds)! but this process is slow so a catalyst (usually Nickel) is added ,and this nickel is the thing which is bad for health. Anywho , if u talk about the composition , hydrocarbons are made up of carbon and hydrogen while fats are made up of carbon , hydrogen and oxygen.

Saturated hydrocarbon has C-C bond and unsaturated hydrocarbon has C=C.

C=C bond is reactive as compared to C-C

If the hydrocarbon have double bonds or triple bonds, it is an unsaturated one. If it doesn't have any such bonds it is a saturated one. This'll also apply to aromatic hydrocarbons as well.

Saturated Hydrocarbons: No C=C bonds
Unsaturated: One or more double bonds.
