I have a friend who has been intimate with men for many years, and he still calls it experimentation.

I agree; after a certain point in time, you're not experimenting- you know! But for a lot of people, it truly is experimentation. I suppose if you don't want to face your true sexual orientation, or deal with the associations that come to mind with the terms, you'll say you experiment.

Well very few guys who are still in the closet are ok with being called gay, being gay or even using the word gay! Actually it is said that the most homophobic guys are gay but just haven't come out of the closet yet. Nobody wants to be seen as being gay because of the persecution and hate that goes along with it from certain people. As far as being bi it is not much better with the str8 male population, I think if guy was to tell some of his female friends that he was bi they would be able to handle it a lot better then most of his male friends.
So using the term 'experimental' or 'bi-curious' is a lot more acceptable because one does not have to admit to being either gay or bi when they use those terms!
"NO, I'm not gay, I still like girls, I am just trying it out with other guys, I just want to see what it is like!" Is something you might here one of these guys saying! *hugs* JAC<

Depends on the person. Sometimes they really are experimenting. If a person has been sexually repressed, they can start experimenting in their 30's or 40's. It can go on for a long period of time.

Other times, they're afraid of being judged as gay, and say they're experimenting to avoid being typecasted as "That Gay Guy".

We should all let people just go their own pace and label themselves as they seem fit. Other people's sexuality really isn't your or my business. It's the desire to put people into neat little boxes that makes them reject labels and say "experimenting". You really answered your own question.

Because being gay is more than just having gay sex. Humans aren't different from animals: they love sexual friction. That's why people can get aroused from sextoys, but no one has a "sex toy preference" or a "hand preference." To be gay implies that you want to have an emotional, not just physical, relationship with someone of the same sex.

It's acceptable to use it during the early horny teenage years. Once you hit the age of let's say, and I'm giving LOTS of leeway, 18 or 19 then you should pretty much know your sexual orientation. It's kind of a cop-out when you get into adulthood.

how are you going to be one hundred%? in simple terms because he ought to seem to strongly want adult men would not advise he ought to under no circumstances be interested in a lady - and which may be the clarification he refers to himself as bisexual. in certain situations someone who's gay will transition into bisexuality first, and then come out as gay, because it makes them extra tender.

Would people wearing a label around their necks identifying their sexual preferences make you feel more comfortable? Are you scared of being rejected by a 'conflicted' man sexually? Do you expect everyone to be at the same stage of their erotic lives as you?

Examine your own insecurities before you critisize others for theirs.
