When you delete a file, you know that it goes into your recycle bin. If you haven't emptied your recycle bin, then open it and Select the files you want to restore to your desktop. You can either restore one file at a time or you can click on one file to select then hold down the control key while selecting the others. The control key allows you to select more than one file at a time. Once all your files are selected, click the restore button and voila the files will be back on the desktop, just where you want them.

When you delete an icon off the desktop you are really just deleting the shortcut to the file or program. Just find the file or program and right click on it and "create shortcut". That will put the icon back on your desktop.
Good Luck
