I will be going to the doc with my mom, don't want my mom to know about my sexual status. My gynaec does not do internal examinations, only an ultrasound. Can she still tell if i've had sex?

usually they'll ask your mom to step out of the room because of doctor patient confidentiality to ask you if you are a virgin...

Tell your mom that you can go into the room by yourself. If you are old enough to have sex, you are certainly old enough to get a gynological exam without your mother watching! Jeez, even if you were not a non-virgin, would you really want your mom looking?

Side note: I really can't stand when people say "if you are old enough to have sex, you're old enough for your mom to know" that's ridiculous! I'm 22 years old and I've been having sex since I was 19. I would never tell my mother. The only time my mother gets to know that I'm no longer a virgin is my wedding night and only because of the assumption that married people have sex. As if sexuality is a persons parents business.

No...i dont think so, but that is something that is private and you can tell your doctor / nurse that you want to have the exam done without your mom. I never heard of a doctor doing an ultrasound only exam unless it is to check to see if you are pregnant and that is what your mom requested. At any rate your gynacologist will be able to tell with your physical exam internally and since you are sexually active it might be a good idea to have one done to test for any std.
good luck with that!

Honey, if you think you're old enough to have sex, you should be old enough not to hide it from your own mother. You can go in alone and not have her in the room when you see the doctor. The doctor needs to know you are sexually active in order to treat you properly.

Best Wishes,

Sue

No, unless you are pregnant.
