Has anyone taken Amtrak's Calfornia Zepher? Would you recomend it or another amtrak overnight route?

I take the California Zepher fairly often. It is a good train, within the context of what Amtrak offers. The views of the mountains are quite lovely. The Coast Starlight offers better service if in First Class, but the scenary is not as impressive above San Luis Obisbo.

Yeah, but the service on Amtrak sucks rocks. I realize it's purposely underfunded by a government that takes orders from oil companies who want to keep us driving cars, but that's no excuse for the widespread surliness of the staff.

I'll never ride Amtrak again if I can help it!
