Don't drink diet soda if it contains the sweetener saccharin and have actually been found to cause birth defects when consumed in very high amounts by laboratory rats.
Diet soda that contains the sweetener aspartame is approved for pregnant woman to drink by the Food and Drug Administration. They have no proven facts that this sweetener passes over the umbilical cord to the fetus.
Diet, or not diet, though, I would get something the is not caffeinated. Caffiene can keep you up and cause potential problems in the baby.

Its usually fine to drink carbonated beverages during pregnancy. Be careful not to drink more than 6 caffeinated soda's per day, or 3 cups of drip coffee, or 2 espresso's. Caffeine can cause problems in the baby.

Its okay to drink soda, be sure to drink twice as much more water than your intake of soda and you may want to go caffine free.
