If you weren't entertained - you wouldn't go! You wouldn't PAY to get ripped off...

Athletes and entertainers maybe overpaid, but seriously, most athletes and some entertainers USUALLY have BETTER YEARS than doctors do! (Except of course if you're that Yankee pitcher - who flew into a building - C'mon!)
Anyways, look at it this way... Which would you rather see? A baseball, football, b-ball, hockey game, live concert, or... surgery?

As far as entertainers go, most ARE WAY OVER PAID, but again, the market decides what is 'hot', you do not individually decide, but YOU and your 'collective buddies' do... So, because we vote with our (your) pocketbook, if entertainers or athletes WEREN'T viewed by us, the people who shell out ridiculous prices for live entertainment and to do 'something different' then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Teachers, policemen, nurses, waitresses, are way underpaid, I agree, but when one of them has an opportunity to entertain, or play a pro-sport, then let them earn what they can. Entertainers and athletes careers are usually pretty short in comparison.

Entertainers and athletes are paid what the market will pay them..., and if that is ridiculously high priced then more power to them and DON"T GO!

B/c those people are entertaining and people want entertainment more than essentials or good health or whatever. Is it stupid, totally! Example: B/c Peyton Manning throws a football and wins a few games for the Colts, we have to build the Colts a new stadium in Indianapolis when we can't even fill the old one and when Indiana's education system is in a huge rut. What! The money hoosiers spent on the stadium could have made our school system better and done better things for Indiana than a stupid stadium for a dumb guy. But people want entertainment, so they get it instead of better schools or whatever. It blows.

WAY, way OVERpaid -- and they definitely are NOT entertaining at all.

They are so overpaid that this single Female, Retired Military, who earns a good income ... can NOT afford to attend events like sports games or see broadway plays or even go to the movies -- because .. well ...

The Entertainers, Professional Athletes and all the associated individuals are SO OVERPAID and the Tickets are SO EXPENSIVE that I can NOT afford to go to the events -- and NEITHER can most Middle Age Individuals with families!

I thinks its ridiculous how much they get paid!!
If you consider the value they provide for their services it seems even more ridiculous, we could all live without a holywood movie!!
If you look at real value adders, ie doctors, engineers, accountants etc, why should an entertainer earn more than thse people?? our lives would be impossible without their services!!
(PS - Maybe not the accountant)
