how would the number of mice and awls change if more plants grew than usual?

Not much. The Mice would have more places to hide so there might seem to be more,.. they seem to prefer meat from what I've seen,.. the Owls would have more trouble finding the Mice,,.. the Owls prrfer the Mice and small birds and I don't think they ever eat plants but it's probably dependent on their breed.

So Mice Up and Owls down ?

I would think the plants matter too since owls like wood and wooden structures (this means trees and houses). But the mice might not like certain trees,.. so,... ya,.. you need to expand on plant types a little perhaps.
