Why does Japanese art have to have suggestive themes? Because our children are watching this, is it wrong? I'm guessing censors will okay this becuase it is giving a the 'correct' type of effection, but it's still our kids...do they really need this?

You're viewing this through western vision. In Japanese culture, some situations we would consider lewd and even illegal are part of everyday life.

Communal baths for instance. In our society, bathing with children is outrageous and often cause for alarm. But in Japanese society it is commonplace for families to bathe together, there is nothing sexual about it.

Also, the human body is not as demonized in Japan as it is in the US. A naked body in American culture is lewd even pornographic. But in Japan, nudity is not a big deal.

Not that I'm saying it's okay to throw what you would consider pornographic in front of your children. It's simply not acceptable and can even be damaging in our culture. But ours is not the ONLY culture in the world.

You know often the anime that comes to your market get cencored already. So what you is a soft version I would say. And in Japan some anime are aired very late so that children won't watch them.

But in Japan it is not really a problem as children are used to it : reading manga or watching anime. And don't forget that Anime are first for the Japanese market not for yours.

And in Japan there are 2 types : as it was said before there is Hentai which is explicit porn and Ecchi were panties or bra are showed and sometimes breast but this one is not porn. It is a soft version

It may be a touchy subject to many, but lolicon and shotacon is protected under free speech. And no matter how much it may disgust you, the idea of banning a certain type of artwork only makes it possible to ban other things that are less controversial, letting us go down a slippery slope of totalitarianism government that can ban anything they want to. people should be smart enough to distinguish real life from a piece of art even if they disagree with it. People have been drawings illegal things since the very dawn of time, and as long as it stays in artwork form there is nothing wrong with it. If someone commits a crime and also reads lolicon that doesn't mean that lolicon made them do it, they would have ended up doing it anyway. We cannot blame media for out actions only ourselves.

Yes as others has said your overgeneralizing with the term 'anime'. Japanese animation does not have the kiddie connotation as it does here; it's just another form of television. It's like judging Sesame Street or Full House off of what's shown on Sex in the City or the Sopranos.

If your are referring towards the more suggestive types, again as said the terms you're looking for are 'Hentai' or 'Ecchi', of which I don't think is anymore available to kids then other forms of adult entertainment.

CULTURE LESSON......

ANIME is NOT porn - anime is the name given to ANY japanese cartoon, regardless of content.

MANGA is NOT porn - manga is just the comic book version of anime, regardless of content.

HENTAI on the other hand IS porn. No if's, ands, or buts....

All anime is NOT pornographic.
Most of it is for all ages or young people.
If you make a habit of looking for the pornographic anime, I think that is YOUR problem.
