I think you're better off in the grocery business if you work for a major store. They have unions and I believe the pay and benefits are better than most retail jobs.

Are you a student? I will assume no, if yes please disregard the following message.
You should continue working in the grocery store. There is much more room for advancement (and higher wages) in the Grocery industry than the retail industry.
If you are concerned about "being cool" then I guess you should go to the clothes store.
But if you were more concerned with "being above the poverty line" then I would continue working in the grocery store.
I would also find something your good at and/or like and develop that skill through some form of continuing eduction.
Or you could always just find a sugar daddy.
Or you could get pregnant and go on welfare.
Whatever you do, remember it's never too early to begin acting like an adult.
My sister was a grocery store cashier for a few years, and she moved up in the company. She is currently a Deli Manager and makes $50k, and she's not the brightest bulb on the tree.

Well, have you had other jobs & how long have you worked there? If you've had a few at least one other job and worked at the grocery store for atleast 6+ months I would say stay a bit more.
Working in a clothing store is alot more work. But it would be a good move. If you want to do it anyways, I would suggest to apply first, because if you quit and say you don't get the job. Most jobs don't let you reaply till about 6 months. And when you apply, be sure to check back two days later and a week later. GOOD LUCK!

Well, 1st find for another job while you are still in your job.
2nd Be sure that when u work in a retail shop, you just dont interact, you have to fold clothes, Unpack clothes, and check for clothes damages, recheck after a person wears the cloth if anything is there lipstick, deoderant.....
So think twice before jumping to a new job.
And continue your education and do something better than some mini jobs that pay less.

The retail business is good, everyone needs clothes...just like they need food. You may find yourself in the same situation as before, because your boss wants to use you from the minute you come on to the minute you leave work. And you have to listen to that horrible music over and over again. :) If you like to interact with people, and you enjoy fashion, make the jump. Plus because of the holiday season you'd probably get picked up very quickly.

Keep in mind that stores are hiring now to fill voids for the x-mas rush and in January they may lay of people in the retail shops. May be better to wait till after the new year and if they hire you it will be with the intent of keep you as an employee.

There is nothing wrong with looking at other options. Weigh your options as well....is it going to be better pay, are there benefits, etc.
I would see if you get the job before quitting your current job. Be courteous, and provide your current employer a two week notice if you do take another job. This looks good professionally on your part.
Good Luck!

Let me suggest that you don't quit your grocery store job before you secure another job. That would be a very big mistake. Because your boss can say that you were unreliable and give
you a poor reference.
