I want to go there and i'm curious what Australian Food is like. I have never seen nor heard of an Australian restaurant so I have no idea what their food is like.

I went to Australia when I was 17 and I can tell you from personal experience that their food is pretty much EXACTLY the same as ours.
The few Australian-born things you can find there though that you wont find everywhere in the USA are things like Crocodile, Kangaroo Steak, and, of course, Vegemite.
I personally think Vegemite is DISGUSTING but it is something you HAVE TO try while you are there. You can even ask any Australian and they while be more than happy to tell you all the different ways they love to eat their Vegemite.

My daughter lives there and well we are Canadians and they eat the same as we do. They have the same restaurants etc.
Hope you enjoy your stay over there. Hostel life you cook your own food. bacon and eggs for breakie etc. will you be in the city or the outback is a big difference. Crock and kangaroo is what you might get in the out back.

aussie food is combination of food from around the world like steak chips (not fries) but the great australian feed is a bbq with steak &sausages beer optional :)

Australian food is very good. They have fresh fish, seafood, great vegetables. They have many ethnic restaurants. I love their lambingtons (cake dipped in chocolate and rolled in fresh coconut) and beef Wellington.
If you like beer, wash it down with Fosters or XXXX.

I live in Australia and we eat pretty much anything edible.............Hey at least we don't eat haggis or liver or gross stuff like that .................Vegemite on toast YUUUUUUMMMMM:-)
