You don't have to be in a special climate to keep llamas. My best friend has a llama farm and we live in Wisconsin. You'd need a lot of space though. Are you a Napolean Dynamite fan or something?

If you live in the desert or anywhere there is a high concentration of sand, or perhaps in the close proximity of a public zoo, and if you are skilled at breaking and entering and kidnapping large hairy mammals with long necks that have a rep for spitting in your face at 99 miles an hour...
