It was an elective within my major, but I found it too demanding and not worth it, so I dropped it and got a W (withdrawal). I don't have any other W's. Do you think grad schools will find this a problem when reviewing my application?

Not bad if you have one or two. May look like a greater problem if it becomes habitual.

It's better to have a W than an F. Some colleges allow you to repeat the withdrawn course at a later date and they will get rid of the W.

In your grad school essay you might want to explain for a bit why you chose to withdraw from that particular course. For the most part, having one (or two) should not be a problem though...especially when your courseload is noticably heavy.

no, things come up and almost everyone has to drop a class now and then. one or two withdrawals on your transcript won't be a big deal. i'm a junior and i actually have two Ws on my transcript. one was my Spring semester of freshman year and i was just overloaded and had to drop one and the other was last year in a class/lab i was failing in and knew i couldn't possibly pull it up before the end of the semester. most people have one or two. it's much better than staying in the class and failing, which would lower your GPA. it would only be a problem if you had a bunch of them. i wouldn't worry about one.

Yes it is until you retake that class, its as if you received an F.
As someone who has hired college graduates into the pharmaceutical industry and home health care I would seriously question any Ws on somebody's transcript, I would ask them why they didn't repeat the course, because it shows the person can't follow through a difficult situation

Its better to get a W than an F. if you are really bothered by it, you can retake the course and remove the W.

Not bad if only one. WAY BETTER than hurting your GPA because admission officers look at GPA before anything else.
