Maybe when you go to end the hug, your the one that always ends it first or you aren't hugging him tight enough. If you want to reassure him that you are all for hugs try to hug him more often then he hugs you :)

Perhaps you do what I do..... I pull back so that in case my breath is bad that I'm not in his face talking to him. OR I sometimes pull back to get a better look at him but the one thing I know that I do is if I am busy eating or I know my guy just finished eating or something I pull away. It took me a long time to figure out why I do this and the best thing I came up with is I don't like people touching me with messy hands/fingers and I don't like being touched when I have messy hands/fingers. Call me weird but it's true. I wasn't overly aware of this until my guy always commented on it.

Just don't pull away until he does. Also, get extra-snuggly when you hug. It will make him feel more secure.
