It's a command or series of commands that you can bind to an icon or quickkey. It's userful for performing a number of functions at once, or simply for speeding up a particular task. Frequently, people use macros for scripts.

A rogue might have a macro that looks like this:
/cast Vanish
/s Woah! I'm getting out of here!

Effectively, that would have the rogue say something while vanishing. Other uses include weapon switching or target-and-cast. Really, there's a lot you can do with macros.

As per above however Macro cannot have pauses its an instant do all at one so u cannot creat a macro to do lets say on spel and the other right after HOWEVER u can create on that will chek the class or something about u or the target and based on the outcome perform an action
Exaple I had a macro on my warlock if the target is humanoid and below 30% life cast Curse of reckless for anything else cast curse of weakness, that way whenever i hit the button it would check and to the appropriate action therefore i do not need 2 buttons on my pannel I only need one and so on.
Macro can help u especially in PVP.

A macro is a series of keystrokes performed by pressing one key or typing a word in the chat console. Macros are created by the user, some common macros can be found on various sites like worldofwarcraft.com and gamefaqs.com. For example you might assign a series of keys to target a party member and use all available buffs and heals to /assist. When you type /assist in the chat window your character will perform the assigned series of actions.
