I think it should be meese. I call them meese. Then people throw things at me. :-)
Kidding. I'm a big English nerd. I don't have much of an answer, except for that English is a mating of many different languages. Goose and moose probably come from different parts of the world, as do their plurals.

Because different words have different plural forms. Example: deer and deer vs. snake and snakes; sheep and sheep vs. kangaroo and kangaroos. So, as you can see, different words change differently to become plural.
Oh, and by the way, meese is not a word. The plural of mouse is mice.

Good question. Reminds me of the guy agonizing over how to order two 'tailor's gooses (?) , geese(?)" by mail.
He finally wrote, "Dear Sirs: Please send me a tailor's goose.". Then, "P.S., Please send another one."
