I have a Dell Dimension 3000, 768mb of Ram, Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz. I added a PCI bus ATI Radeon 9250 and it works perfectly. I just wanted to know if you can put a PCI-express graphics card in a normal PCI bus slot. If not, is there a way to add one or make it work?

PCI-express is a type of slot. You either have one on your motherboard or you don't. If you have a new motherboard you almost certainly do have one.

Typically, the first slot on a motherboard is specifically for the graphics card and is either an AGP or a PCI-express. The rest of the slots are normal PCI slots. Although you can put a PCI graphics card in one of these (not a PCI - express but a normal PCI) the performance won't be nearly as good.

The easiest way to find out which slot you have is to open up the manual that came with your Dell and flip to the back. In the specifications section it will specifically mention either an AGP or a PCI - express slot. If you have an AGP (which older motherboards tend to), then return the graphics card where you got it and get the same one for AGP.

Nope - wont go unless you have a specific PCI express slot on ya motherboard - check specs for motherboard.
If unsure check with DELL

no sorry..a PCIE VGA Card will not go into a PCI slot..the only way to install a PCIE card is to buy a mb which has the PCIE slot..but then you will probably have to change your CPU and RAM as well
