My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a couple of months now. Last month I ovulated right on day 14 and then I just started my period right on day 28. I'm guessing this time around will be the same, the only problem is, on day 14 I will be in a different state (actually, different country) then my husband to attend my sisters wedding. Of course we are going to have sex right before I leave, which will be day 11, but if I don't ovulate for 3 more days after that, and I'll be showering too, then my chances of pregnancy are just not too great. Is there a way to somehow preserve some semen or something to use when I do ovulate?? I know it's weird, but has anyone ran into this problem and what did you do? Serious answers ONLY please.

OK,,first, you cant save or preserve it. That's where the laboratory professionals would come in...Since your doing this on your own, and as a nurse I'll try to help you out the home made way. You really can't predict when your going to ovulate from month to month. Your body chemistry changes daily. Try not to have intercourse until your ready to leave for your sisters. Sperm is more potent when left to ferment for a couple of days. The biggest misconception couples have is, having sex everyday will help them conceive, NOT TRUE, allowing sperm to sit is what make them potent. When you do have intercourse before you leave, don't get up right away, place a comfortable pillow under your backside, so your pelvis is above your head level. Stay like this as long as you can comfortable. Avoid urinating right away. (Not advise I normally give) since voiding is best after intercourse to avoid Bladder infections. Never douche unless your doctor tells you too. Douching flushes away the natural in environment sperm needs to live, which can be as long as 72 hours giving the right conditions..: ) Best of luck

You could probably go to a Laboratory where they do those things. If you have an OBGYN or perhaps a General Physician that you can talk to & ask them where you can go to do these kind of procedures. I've had a same problem 2 yrs. ago. I was trying to get pregnant for about 3 yrs. but when I used an ovulation-kit, it worked for me (thank God)! and now I have a 1 1/2 healthy baby boy. I'm sure if you really, really, really, would like to get pregnant, there are many ways that you can try. You should contact an OBGYN and I'm sure they could help you out on this. Or you can also check the WEBMD.COM. And of course, PRAYERS is the number 1 solution on this. Trust me, I know because it happened to me. Just keep trying and don't give up. Good Luck!

You could theoretically keep the semen indefinitely however the sperm in the semen are fragile and die quickly. The only way I know of preserving semen is by freezing it as they do in sperm banks but I don't believe you can do it at home.

Only a doctor would be able to tell you whether or not your semen motility is abnormal (after looking under a microscope). You should ask the doctor that reported this to you what actions you should take to improve the situation. Common remedy beliefs are to wear boxer shorts; avoid hot weather, hot showers, hot tubs, alcohol, drugs, etc.

What you can do is move toward fresh food eating and avoid canned or processed foods like deli meats, ham bacon, and Salomi as in pizza. Eat high level protein, like roast or BBQ chicken, roast beef, steak or fish. Eat fresh vegetables, cooked or raw, like Caesar salad with romaine lettus, and eat more fresh fruit daily like oranges, bananas. Take a zinc supplement and a men's Power vitamin supplement. Zinc is critical in healthy semen production, and motility depends upon healthy sperm cells as well as healthy seminal fluid. Make sure too that you drink the equivalence of 8 glasses of water per day for healthy body and semen hydration. Move in this direction of healthy eating and body hydration for a couple of month and your motility will go up by leaps and bounds. The food that you eat is building blocks and fuel, and healthy little wigglers depend on this as well. This type of eating will increase your sex drive as well as motility. Preserved foods cut sperm production as well as the sex drive. The preservatives act to hinder bacteria growth and reproduction in the foods, and It only stands to reason that they will also inhibit body cell production as well as sperm cell production. Preservatives in processed meats and canned foods are so not good for you. These are used Alto in many types of cheese, like cheddar. Jarlsberg cheese from Norway is one of the few that is packed in carbon dioxide to stay fresh, and is quite free of preservatives. Wanting the best for you Dude Me! :- )
