It is illegal to condone killing anyone, but Secret Service is especially concerned about the President of the United States. And it is a sad commentary about our society that anyone would think that - either in jest or seriousness - it is acceptable to make, encourage, or condone statements threatening anyones life, especially that of the President.

What Constitutes a "Threat?"
According to this law -- 18 USC Sec. 871 -- which reads, in part:
"...Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."
That covers a lot of deeds and statements. It gives the Secret Service a lot of latitude when conducting an investigation. There is a very good reason for this. Few jobs are more dangerous than President of the United States.

Condone? Did you look that word up or did it just pop into your head?
If you condone killing someone it's not illegal, if you conspire to kill someone it IS illegal, whether he is the president or not. It would probably be harder on you if it was the president than anyone else.
Oh and if you think that anyone is going to call that fake number you are crazier than I thought you were.
I bet it's your number and you want people to call you because you're lonely or something huh? Awwwwwww Poor Baby....

Why would you want to condone something like that in the first place? You should go to prison for that and be investigated to the fullest extent of the law. (by the way I am not a Conservative Republican ).

Not the way to go, however.
1. It is wrong to kill.
2. He will become a martyr
3. He is not in control here. It would be chopping of the head of
a twenty head being.

Yes, it is illegal to publicly state harm to any government official.
With the world they way it is, why would you want to even in a sarcastic joke? Just don't vote for the person.
