I don't know of any free courses, but there are many great books available. For a beginner, I'm thinking of the "Made Easy" series.

Why not try www.amazon.com. Look at the left for a link to books, then look for used books. I've purchased many used books here - great deals - and all so far are in "like new" condition.

It's just so much easier to have the book to study then go on the PC to try things out. The "Made Easy" series contain screen shots and are well done, easy to understand.

While there may be free sites that I'm not aware of, there are the "Dummies" (not a comment directed at you) series of books that are excellent as well as the "Learn **** Visually" series of books.
